The All Babies Program is grant funded by the Illinois State Board of Education to give children under three years of age the best start toward succeeding in school.
Program Goals:
• To help family members understand normal Child Development.
• To offer children opportunities for socialization through play-groups.
• To provide a bridge between home and school.
• To form a plan with families to overcome barriers to success.
Services are offered to families who:
• Are expecting a child or have a child under three years of age.
• Live in Richland, Lawrence, Crawford and Jasper Counties in Illinois.
• Are experiencing circumstances which may affect their child's success in school such as low income, single parent household, young parents,etc.
• Counties served are: Jasper, Crawford, Lawrence and Richland.
Services Include:
• Developmental screenings.
• Developmental instruction.
• Play groups.
• Home-visits.
• Monthly newsletter.
• Individual family support planning and implementation.
• Information about parenting, health, safety, and nutrition.
• Referrals to other agencies for specialized services.
• Resource library and toy lending library.
• Transition into other programs after age three.
There are two ABC/APPLE Play Groups held each Wednesday in Newton and Olney. The Newton Play Group is held from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Body Styles Fitness Center or, weather permitting, Newton City Park. The Olney Play Group is held from 9:30 to 10:30 am at 304 East Main Street. Enter through the back door or for accessible entry use the entrance on York Street. These two Play Groups are for all families in Richland, Lawrence, Crawford and Jasper Counties in Illinois with a child 0-5 years old. The Play Groups provide toys, songs, games, finger plays, snacks, friendship and parent interaction. Call 1-877-395-4222 for more information.
