Michelle has worked at ARC Community Support Systems since October 1991 when she was hired as a Residential Specialist at the KC House. She then moved on to work at the Developmental Training Center before becoming the Smith House Manager in 1997. Through several changes Michelle is now the house manager for all three of the agencies CILA group homes; the Merchant Street and KC Houses in Effingham and the Smith House in Teutopolis.
Michelle supervises residential employees, provides staff training, serves as a member of the Community Support Team, assists in identifying consumers' needs, carries out Individual Rehabilitation Plan goals & behavior plans, maintains appropriate documentation & records and provides direct care as required by each individual consumer’s needs. She is also a Bloodborne Pathogens and MSDS trainer and a member of ARC-CSS safety committee.
Michelle has lived in the Effingham area all her life. Born in Mason, her family moved to Effingham when she was 11. In November 2006 she married her long-time sweetheart, Emmett, and they make their home in Altamont. When not at work Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and playing games with her many nieces and nephews, which she says, “keeps her feeling young!
