ARC Community Support Systems provides quality products and services to over 20 businesses in Effingham and surrounding counties. The organization maintains annual sales of 1.7 million dollars.
ARC-CSS programs are Sheltered, Supported, and Developmental Training.
Community Employment
ARC Community Support Systems' placement program is designed to assist individuals with disabilities in acquiring competitive employment within the vocational field of their choice. Persons enrolled in the program may choose from a variety of individualized services including: job seeking skills, job development skills, employment application assistance, resume' development, skills training, on-the-job training, job coaching, and follow up support. It is the goal of ARC-CSS that each individual be competitively employed in the vocation of choice within the community of choice. Developmental Training Employment
The ARC-CSS Developmental Training Center is designed to provide training in all areas of independent living and personal care to individuals with disabilities. It also offers a work force to area businesses and private individuals needing workers to perform light manual jobs. Presently, the Developmental Training Program has a work force of over 100 individuals capable of meeting the production and work-related needs of employers in the geographic service area.

Sheltered Employment
The Sheltered Employment Program was the first of the Employment Programs ARC-CSS established. In 1970, 26 consumers with disabilities were employed in the workshop performing contracted jobs such as rug binding, weaving, pallet and crate manufacturing, furniture stripping, and shrink wrapping. Today, adults with disabilities continue to have the opportunity for a full day’s work and a full day’s pay in the Sheltered Workshop through various contract jobs including machine parts assembly, furniture assembly, cardboard corners for furniture shipping and many more.

Supported Employment
ARC Community Support Systems provides janitorial services throughout Effingham, Richland and surrounding counties. The SEP contracts with area businesses to perform an array of job tasks including: vacumming, mopping, stripping, sealing and waxing floors; dusting and polishing surfaces; trash collection and disposal; and other office maintenance concerns. Exterior work includes mowing grass and yard trimming, leaf removal and shrub maintenance.
ARC-CSS maintenance crews operate seven (7) days-a-week from 6 am to 10 pm. Service times vary dependent upon the crews needed to perform the desired maintenance.
Individual service contracts vary from site to site dependent upon need.

Safety is a high priority with all ARC-CSS Vocational Programs. Stringent safety procedures are followed and incentive programs are offered to reinforce safe production of all products.
