Program Description
The Sheltered Employment program provides transitional (short term) and long term "extended" employment and related support services to persons with disabilities in order to assist them in maximizing their personal/social/vocational level of functioning and to enable them to earn an income while in a sheltered environment.

Services Offered
• Vocational Evaluation
• Work Adjustment and paid work experiences
• Developmental skills training
• Leisure time skill development
• Remedial education
• Case management services - counseling, general problem solving assistance, referrals, etc.
• Consultation with referral agency
• Job seeking skill training, on-the-job training
• Placement and Follow-up
• Miscellaneous support services
• Transportation

Program Eligibility Criteria
• 16-55 years of age
• Able to care for personal needs unassisted.
• Must be ambulatory with or without wheelchair.
• Impairment or conduct not dangerous to self or others.
• Physical or mental disability - either unemployed or underemployed.
• Must have been enrolled in our facility for at least eight weeks immediately prior to starting date in sheltered employment.
• Inability or limited prospects for obtaining competitive employment due to nature of vocational disability.
• Demonstrated ability to earn an average of at least 25% of the prevailing wage onmost assigned jobs.
• Demonstrated ability to function successfully on the job under routine instructive supervision.

Exit Criteria
• Consumer meets entrance criteria for Supported or Competitive Employment and IDT Team agrees that placement is in the best interest of consumer.
• Consumer fails to maintain minimum expectations, as determined by the IDT Team, and is referred to a more appropriate program.
• Consumer chooses to leave program.

Follow-up
• Program Manager condusts follow-up contacts monthly for three months for consumers who exit only this program. Follow-up for consumers who exit all programs is provided by the lead QMRP/Program Manager.
